Home Schooling in the 21st Century
Homeschooling grows in popularity!

Why Massage Therapy Schools becoming Popular!

Some people, mainly men, snigger when folks mention the oriental massage, but only those who have naughty experiences themselves in faraway places, or have heard such stories from others, give the oriental massage a bad rap. But in reality, the ‘real deal’ as trained in modern massage therapy schools, is nothing less than a relaxing, healing experience for both men and women of all ages.

The working ladies and their profession have taken massage reputation to new lows as they use it to disguise their business. Many men and women hear jokes about the ‘happy endings’ and such like, which is why a lot of otherwise interested folks would steer clear of learning about massage and reflexology at massage therapy schools. Until now!

With more and more of us getting run down and stressed out with twenty first century lifestyles, so the demand for relaxation and alternative therapies has seen somewhat of a boom in recent years. Nowadays, with the genuine interest in relaxing by massage, the old image of sleazy massage parlors has been vastly overshadowed by the trendy spas, and health farms, and there really has been no better time to train in massage therapy schools for those interested in this ancient art.

Such is the popularity of wanting to become a trained massage therapist that several schools and colleges now offer night courses on how to give professional massage for both expert and personal use. Most of these massage training schools actually teach a variety of therapeutic techniques to massage soft tissues which have been affected by illness, stress, and injury, although it's important to note that this is neither physiotherapy nor a replacement for it.

My Asian massage in Hong Kong way back in 1991 had me feeling absolutely indescribably wonderful afterwards, so much so that the following year I looked up massage therapy schools in South East Asia. The year after that I had enrolled at the famous Wat Pho Massage School in Bangkok Thailand. Although this is by far the best known massage therapy school in the county, it is in fact just one of many schools that train people in the art of Thai massage. For me, the advantage of training at Wat Pho was that the teachers were well conditioned towards teaching foreigners like me.

Massage therapy schools are not restricted to ancient arts from the orient and there are other more modern types of massage that folks get into in order to launch a career in this field, such as sports massage and other specialist types including reflexology, feet only and so on.

There are as many techniques of massage as there are origins, and I just happened to learn Thai massage because I could integrate the training with a holiday, it was extremely cheap, plus I got to export a few original items back to support my small massage business that I setup soon after. Massage techniques in Cambodia, Vietnam, and of course Chinese massage are all different and follow their own distinctive principles and teachings which have been handed down by the generations.

If you are interested in becoming a massage therapist, then a quick search online should provide you with plenty of information and options for massage therapy schools in your immediate area, state, or region.

Massage therapy schools. For that alternative career! Are you ready?
